Healthy by George

The most powerful health technology we own is the one between our ears.

Dr. Mary Catherine George is a health psychologist whose work bridges the research lab and the living room. As Director of Clinical Research at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, she develops digital therapeutics, including a virtual reality platform that delivers self-hypnosis for chronic pain.

Through Healthy by George, she helps adults in their 50s, 60s, and 70s take an intentional, evidence-based approach to aging: movement, mindfulness, heart health, chronic pain, and the topics mainstream wellness media tends to avoid.

She is also a classically trained singer and former improv performer, which is why her talks feel like a conversation instead of a lecture.

Five talks, tailored to your room.

Each is available as a 45–60 minute keynote, a 90-minute workshop, or a 20-minute conference session, for clinical, consumer, or caregiver audiences.

Your Brain on Pain: Retraining the Nervous System, No Prescription Required

Chronic pain is real, but it is also trainable. Drawing on Gate Control Theory, the science of self-hypnosis, and lessons from building a VR pain platform, this talk shows how behavioral tools change the pain experience, and why the future of pain care is a partnership between medicine and mind.

The Conversation Nobody's Having: Intimacy, Sexuality, and Healthy Aging

Most adults remain sexually active far later in life than anyone assumes, and almost no one's doctor is asking about it. What the research actually says about intimacy as a component of healthy aging, why health predicts sexual activity more than age does, and how to start the conversation your clinician isn't starting.

Aging on Purpose: The Behavioral Science of Your Second Fifty

Healthy aging isn't a product you buy; it's a set of behaviors you practice. A tour of what the evidence says actually moves the needle after 50: movement, connection, mindfulness, sleep, and the self-experiments that turn research into habit. Delivered with honest caveats and zero miracle claims.

Mindfulness That Sticks: From Retreat Fantasy to Daily Practice

Why most mindfulness attempts fail by day four, and the behavioral design principles that help a practice survive contact with real life. An interactive session with do-it-with-me practice moments drawn from Dr. George's 30-day mindfulness curriculum.

Be the CEO of Your Own Health: Self-Advocacy in the Exam Room

The average appointment is short, and the stakes are not. The skills of shared decision-making: what to ask, how to prepare, when to push back, and how women in particular can get atypical symptoms taken seriously. Modeled through real conversations, not hypotheticals.
